The mission of the Florida Department of Health in Madison County (DOH-Madison) is to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts. 

DOH-Madison is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of Madison County residents and visitors by preventing and treating disease, promoting healthy lifestyles, and responding effectively to infectious disease outbreaks. 

As a small county health department with a staff of approximately 20 full-time employees, DOH-Madison focuses on delivering essential health services. These services encompass four core functions: Communicable Disease Control, Environmental Public Health, Community Health, and Preparedness. 

The Department’s ultimate goal is to work in partnership with local government and community organizations to improve the quality of life in Madison County. By engaging in community assessments, implementing effective health interventions, fostering communication, and adhering to best practices, DOH-Madison aims to elevate the health outcomes of the entire community.
