The health of a community is determined by the physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being of all community residents. Achieving such a complex state of being is one that requires engagement of the community and an understanding of the complex determinants for each aspect of health.
The 2017 Community Health Assessment details comprehensive health information about Madison County residents and summarizes priorities developed by community members to positively change access to health care to include mental oral health and improve obesity and health disparities.

The County Health Rankings show that where we live matters to our health. The health of a community depends on many different factors -- ranging from health behaviors, education and jobs, to quality of health care, to the environment. These are published annually by University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, and support is provided by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
